January 1, 2014-  The Vintage Road Racing Association (VRRA) has settled their racing schedule for 2014.  The VRRA is proud to announce it has no conflicting dates in 2014 with other vintage motorcycle clubs.  As a matter of fact, the entire North American vintage racing community has managed to cooperatively create the 2014 racing schedule with only one conflicting date!

The season opener, the Quinte TT, well be held at the VRRA’s unofficial home track, Shannonville Motorsports Park.  The club will be utilizing the fastest of the track selections: the Pro track, May 30, 31, and June 1.

On Friday May 30th, the VRRA will hold its annual racing school at Shannonville. This is your opportunity to add some excitement to your 2014!  The school consists of both classroom sessions and on-track sessions.  There is also a specific sidecar race training session as well.  Upon successful completion of the school, you will receive your racing license, and assuming you have a VRRA qualified machine you will be eligible to grid alongside the rest of the racing field for all events. Click here for the Race School Application Form  or go to www.VRRA.ca for more information.

Following practice on May 31st and June 1st is the first of possibly three 2014 endurance rounds.  The remainder of the weekend will be spent sprint racing on the fast and flowing Pro track configuration.

The second stop on the schedule, the VRRA will race at a brand new venue for the club: Grand Bend Motorplex for the Summer Classic on the Modified course.  With considerable help from Southern Ontario Association of Racing (SOAR) there is the possibility of a second endurance race on Friday, July 18th.  The official event is scheduled for sprint racing July 19th and 20th.

The third event of the season is of course the Vintage Motorcycle Festival at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport) on the full Grand Prix track.  The endurance race will be held August 22nd with the full sprint racing festival taking place on the 23rd and 24th.  This is a must see for any motorsports enthusiast.  Teams from all across Canada and the US converge on the historic venue for three full days of celebrating our rich and colourful racing heritage.

The season ends at the St. Eustache Autodrome September 6th and 7th for the Grand Prix Du Quebec.  Many of the riders’ season standings come down to this last round, which makes for some exciting racing.  Like Shannonville, nearly the entire track is visible from the stands, so it’s a great opportunity to witness some really exciting racing.

Thankfully though, you won’t have to wait until May to get involved with the VRRA.  The kick off for the 2014 season is the North American International Motorcycle Super Show in Toronto, January 3-5.  The VRRA will display bikes that span all four racing periods including the relatively new Grand Prix class.  There will be information available from enthusiastic members on everything and anything you could ever want to know about what it takes to get involved with the VRRA.  The VRRA display will be located in Hall 4 of the convention center, so make sure you save the date to come out and visit.

There’s no better time to get involved!
