Round 1 of the Rocktar Energy Triple Crown MX series is in the books. Following a stretch of poor weather, the week leading up to the June 1 race at Calgary’s Wildrose MX park brought hot sunny conditions that lasted through the weekend making it an ideal day for race fans.
When the gate dropped, it was Cole Thompson, coming off his win of the 2019 Triple Crown Arenacross title, with the “man to beat” target squarely on his back. Keeping his momentum alive, Thompson went 3-1 in the day’s two motos to claim his familiar spot on the top of the podium, where he was joined by Colton Facciotti (2nd overall) and Phil Nicoletti (3rd overall). The 250 Pro class saw Josh Oshby finish 1st overall, followed by Luke Renzland (2nd overall) and Dylan Wright (3rd overall).
IM‘s John Meaney was on hand to capture all the action in Calgary. We hope you enjoy this gallery of his photos.
The next round of the 2019 Rockstar Energy Triple Crown MX series will be on June 8 when the series moves to the Blackwater MX Park in Prince George, BC.
