October 3, 2013- The FIM MotoGP World Championship will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a seventh consecutive year in 2014, as the Red Bull Indianapolis GP will take place Aug. 8-10 on a revised motorcycle circuit that will create even more exciting action. The 2014 date is one week earlier than the 2012 and 2013 events at IMS.

“The MotoGP World Championship has added greatly to the diversity and excitement at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since the inaugural event in 2008, and we’re thrilled to welcome back the greatest riders on Earth to the Racing Capital of the World next August,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. “The changes we’re making to our road course will create even closer, faster competition for our fans at this unique, fun event that has become a vital part of our annual racing schedule.”

Riders in all three World Championship classes – MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 – will compete on a new-look road course next August at IMS, with Race Day set for Sunday, Aug. 10.

IMS officials worked with series organizer Dorna Sports and worldwide governing body FIM to create a 16-turn, 2.645-mile circuit featuring exciting new turn configurations and braking zones, creating more passing opportunities. The entire infield section of the circuit will be repaved, creating a more uniform, smooth racing surface.

On-track action will continue in a counter-clockwise direction for motorcycles at IMS.

Dorna Sports and the FIM issued a provisional 2014 schedule Oct. 2. The Red Bull Indianapolis GP is one of 19 races next season.

The 2014 season starts March 23 at Qatar and ends Nov. 9 at Valencia, Spain. The Red Bull Indianapolis GP is the 10th event on the scheduled, preceded by the Grand Prix of the Germany on July 13 and followed by the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic on Aug. 17.

MotoGP features exciting racing by the world’s best riders on exotic, 1000cc prototype motorcycles. World Championship support classes Moto2 and Moto3 will return to IMS in 2014. Other support classes will be announced in the future.

IMS is accepting ticket applications for the 2014 Red Bull Indianapolis GP. Visit www.ims.com/tickets, call 800-822-INDY or 317-492-6700 or visit the IMS Ticket Office at the IMS Administration Building at the corner of Georgetown Road and 16th Street between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (ET) Monday-Friday.
