SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – With only one major update since its inception over 25 years ago, the venerable Kawasaki KLR650 is an off-road workhorse. However, one of the Kawasaki’s weaknesses is a serious lack of protection for the bottom of the motor.

Adventure motorcycle outfitter AltRider now offers a smart solution with their skid plate for the KLR650 .

The AltRider skid plate fits all KLR650’s 1987 to present. Post-2008 owners have the option to upgrade the stamped sheet metal supports that attach the plastic stock skid plate to AltRider’s robust 3/16″ stainless steel brackets – giving the best protection for real adventure action. Brackets are automatically added for pre-2008 KLR’s.

The tough skid plate, available in silver or black, protects the sump, water pump and dangerously exposed oil lines from pesky logs, rocks and other trip-ending trail debris. The robust styling perfectly complements the rugged lines of Kawasaki’s adventure motorcycle.

Seattle-based AltRider specializes in producing top-quality adventure motorcycle accessories that are 100% designed and manufactured in the USA. AltRider utilizes only the highest standard in production techniques – Hand-TIG welding, CNC tube bending and 5-axis laser cutting are just a few of the methods that set them apart. AltRider is also known for their public involvement with the riding community offering training events, access to exclusive riding terrain, and more.
