Shopping for riding gear highlights the realities of balancing protection vs. comfort vs. style. This is especially evident when trying to find a pair of riding shoes that keep your feet safe during urban riding or commuting but still accommodate walking around when you reach your destination.

Enter the Sidi Stryda motorcycle shoe. Arriving just in time for a recent test ride in Florida, taking the Stryda shoes out of the box left me thinking that these may be the best-looking motorcycle shoes I have ever owned. Available in black (with a white sole) and grey (with black sole) these shoes would look right at home for a night out on the town.

Sliding into the Stryda shoes, the fit is accurate with the wide toe box providing ample room. Slightly taller than the everyday high tops that dominate my closet, the Stryda boots still felt exceptionally comfortable during initial steps around the house.

Looks aside, the Stryda shoes offer riders serious protection. Featuring CE certified reinforcement in the ankle, heel and toe, the sneaker style shoes rely on a patented Fortex structure to maintain flexibility while still providing impact protection. The Velcro lace enclosure at the top of the boot provides additional stability and ensures that laces do not hang lose and get tangled on foot pegs, gear shift or brake.

The shift pad on top of the left boot, mirrored on the right one, should limit wear on top of the toe area while the perforated tongue was notable in keeping my feet cool during riding in the hot Florida sun.

The Concrecto sole proved to have a solid non-slip feel on both the foot pegs as well as when putting my feet on an oily road surface when coming to a stop. The opportunity to walk around for a couple hours during the various stops on our ride reaffirmed that the Sidi Stryda shoes are designed to provide comfort on and off the bike.

With the Stryda shoe, Sidi has made it possible for street riders to ride with confidence without sacrificing comfort for long days on and off the bike. Add in Italian styling and these shoes are ready for a spot in the closet of even the most discerning consumers.
