Canadian expert flat track rider and AMA Grand National regular Doug “The Mississauga Missile” Lawrence took his talents indoors and onto the ice last weekend. Taking part in an event at the Perani arena in Flint, Michigan, Lawrence was riding a machine borrowed from AMA Grand National champion Jared Mees.
Making the most of his new ride, Lawrence was undefeated through eight heats and then also crossed the line first in the final. Along with Mees, Lawrence credits ice racing guru Craig Pickett with his success in the event.
Lawrence is no stranger to ice racing, and with the AMA season starting next month in Daytona, he’s hoping that events like this will help keep his skills sharp for the season opener.
