The annual Max Mercier Safety Fundraiser trackday will be held at Shannonville Motorsports Park this Friday, August 10. The event, which is hosted by Max’s father, Michel Mercier, and HotLap events, is intended to commemorate the friendship of young Max who passed away in a motorcycle road racing accident in 2005. The “Max Mercier Safety Fund” has been established to help increase the safety of racetrack riders.
Unfortunately, this marks the third and final year for the event, according to an annoucement on the Fast Riding School website. According to the statement from Michel and Odette Mercier, “It is with equal sadness and celebration that we are announcing that 2012 marks the last year we will be hosting the Max Mercier Safety Fund Track Day Event and Breakfast. We have been humbled by all of the support and contributions that participants and volunteers alike have shown us over the years. We celebrate the success these events have had and are only saddened at not having them to look forward to in the coming years. With that said, we invite you to join us on Aug 10th, 2012 for the final Max Mercier Safety Fund Track Day Event. This will be our “Victory Lap” Event so to speak, celebrating the safety Fund’s success. Click Here to register for the Event. In Memory of Max Mercier, Thank You once again for having been with us on this journey.”
