Since the first Ride For Dad in Ottawa in the year 2000, over $9 million dollars has been raised nationally for research and to raise awareness of this prevalent but preventable disease. At the 2013 Ride Kick-off in Edmonton a giant cheque for $102,950 was accepted by Dr. John Lewis on behalf of the Cross Cancer Institute. The cheque represented the money raised by the Ride For Dad in Edmonton and Rural Alberta in 2012.
Inside Motorcycles Managing Editor, Graeme Jones, and I will be participating in the Ride For Dad this year and documenting our experiences in an East vs. West comparison of the events. We are also both doing our bit at fundraising with a little friendly competition to see who can raise the most money for this worthy cause. While we’re both very competitive (I’m ahead at the moment), the real winners will be Canadian men everywhere who will benefit from the research into this dreadful disease.
Please donate what you can to whichever one of us you would like to support. The funds stay local to where they are raised and donations of $20 or more will get you a tax receipt.
Inside Motorcycles is kicking things up a notch by matching our fundraising efforts dollar for dollar up to $1000 each.
