CONCORD, Ontario (July 29, 2013) – Michael Taylor rode the Mackie Harley-Davidson® sponsored XR1200® motorcycle to victory in round three of the Canadian Harley-Davidson® XR1200® Cup Series for 2013, beating second place finisher Darren James of Ruthless Racing by a mere 329 thousandths of a second (0.329 seconds).
Defending XR1200® Cup champion and number one plate holder Steve Crevier crashed out of the lead while entering the tenth turn on the seventh of sixteen laps. Crevier was unhurt, but the XR1200® motorcycle sponsored by MotoSport Plus of Kingston was too damaged to continue.
Taylor then inherited the lead and held off Darren James for the win. James, on the XR1200® motorcycle sponsored by Ruthless Racing, was having his best ride of the year and looked to be in position to challenge for the win, but came up short at the checkered flag.
Blaise Fougere, from nearby Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, had a rather lonely ride to third place on the XR1200® motorcycle sponsored by the Atlantic Harley-Davidson® Retailers. It was Fougere’s best finish of the season and matches his performance from the 2012 Harley® race at AMP. It was a popular podium finish for the likeable East Coast rider.
Elie Daccache rode the XR1200® motorcycle for Harley-Davidson® de L’Outaouais to a fourth place finish just ahead of Ruthless Racing’s John Ross MacRae. MacRae had been running in a four-rider group at the front of the race, but unfortunately, he had to slow his pace when the gear shift lever on his XR1200® motorcycle was damaged in the close racing and he had to circle, unable to shift gears.
Jean Pascal Schroeder rode the Harley-Davidson® Montreal sponsored entry to sixth place, the final finishing position.
The Canadian Harley-Davidson® XR1200® Cup Series continues with rounds four and five on August 9, 10, and 11 at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.
