Jordan Szoke snatched the victory at Atlantic Motorsports Park in a dramatic last lap pass to extend his points lead to 35 in the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship which was held near Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia last weekend.
Szoke completed the race in 16 minutes 5.075 seconds to take the checkered flag by a thin 0.230 at the line. Taking his sixth superbike career victory at the 2.56 km road course, affectionately known as “the roller coaster”, Szoke is well on his way to an unprecedented eighth Canadian Superbike title.
“I didn’t get the best of starts, but you really have to be patient around here or it will bite you,” Szoke said, referring to the race delay that caused the race to shorten to 14 laps.
Szoke found himself third off the line on the restart after claiming his third straight pole position of the season. The Superbike race was red flagged just after two laps and required the riders to take back to the grid.
“That was a dogfight out there,” said Szoke. “I had to pick off riders where I could. This track isn’t the easiest one to race at and you need to be careful.”
“So far we are having such an amazing season, I really have to thank my crew,” he added. “We all work so well together and it shows in our results.”
Jordan takes his 151 points to Round 4 of the Mopar Canadian Superbike series, which will be hosted August 10-12 at the beautiful Circut Mont-Tremblant. For ticket information, call 819-425-6363, email info@lecircuit.com or visit www.lecircuit.com.
