From a press release from Medical Data Carrier and Stopconcussions.com- Toronto and Ottawa: StopConcussions.com is extremely excited to announce a partnership with Medical Data Carrier IM Inc. to include a StopConcussions.com information key tag inside Medical Data Carrier product packages.

Medical Data Carrier (MDC) is a unique, bilingual, medical Information system that provides critical lifesaving data about the wearer as well as crucial family contact information in the event of an emergency.  The highly visible, secure and aerodynamic carrier attaches to the left side of the individual’s helmet and is safe for all helmet surfaces.  Bold text on the outside of the carrier warns good samaritan responders to leave helmet removal to those trained in the proper technique. Improper removal can result in collateral injury, paralysis or worse. Inside, a two sided water-proof paper contains information on the wearer’s identity and medical history including information such as allergies, medications, blood type and pre-existing medical conditions, that assists first responders with the crucial triage stage of the wearer’s care.

“ Together with Medical Data Carrier, we bring to the helmet wearer a powerful combination of education and proactive emergency preparedness” said Keith Primeau. “The Medical Data Carrier does not prevent or reduce any injuries to the head, rather it provides essential first aid information, especially crucial when the injured party is young or the wearer is panicked, disoriented, in shock or unconscious.”

The free StopConcussions.com key tag will have printed on it a scanable QR code and a 1-800 number to access  StopConcussions.com and the website where users will be able to get assistance with the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of a concussion. There are also resources available to undergo pre-concussion baseline testing for individuals who may be involved in activities that have a high potential for concussions and want to take some proactive steps in the event of a concussive injury.

“Teaming up with Keith and Kerry makes perfect sense and we are very pleased to be able to do our part by providing the StopConcussions.com brain injury key tag inside our products,” stated Steve Reed, President of Medical Data Carrier IM Inc.

Though helmets may not prevent concussions they are extremely important to protect the skull from structural damage. Stopconcussions.com, led by Keith Primeau, 15 year NHL veteran and former Philadelphia Flyers Captain main goal is to educate athletes, parents, coaches, trainers and anyone involved in any sport or activity that can result in a chance of a head injury, about concussion prevention, identification and proper treatment.  Primeau suffers from post concussion syndrome, and has been a vocal proponent of making the public aware of the seriousness of concussions.
