On September 2nd, Martensville Speedway was host an exciting round seven of the CMA National Mini Road Racing Championship Series presented by Parts Canada. The round hosted by the Saskatchewan Mini Road Racing Association saw competitors of all ages and skill levels from across the country.
Participating in the event and staying true to grass roots racing was local Canadian Superbike racer Bodhi Edie! Also making a special guest appearance this weekend was World Superbike Team Effenbert Liberty Ducati rider Brett Mccormick!
Race day Sunday was brisk with overcast and gusting winds, making for interesting racing conditions. With sub-optimal traction caused by cool weather, racers pushed to the limits chasing the podium and valuable championship points. Many racers (such as Josh Hewgill) pushed their battle with traction over the edge. Fortunately no one was seriously injured during the crash and or event.
In Spec Supersport the lighting fast Ham girls from White City, Saskatchewan, Robyn and Jana, would take 1st and 2nd with Braedon Ortt from Okotoks, Alberta taking 3rd. The three Ham sisters went on to do a clean sweep in the Ladies Class. Showing racers how it’s done was Bodhi Edie riding a CBR125R in Formula Supersport. Bodhi would go on to win both class races with ease, dicing with runner up just for fun! The Formula GP and Motard morning race would prove to be eventful as the race was red flagged do to a 2nd lap pile up. Two of the four Motard racers would dnf and not go on to compete in the 2nd race. In Thunder, Emil Peev crossed the finish line well ahead of the other racers in both racers but a jump start penalty in race 1 would cause him to take 2nd overall in the class.
The SMRA would like to thank all the series sponsors, travelling competitors, and volunteers that made Round 7 of the National Series a success!
