The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the first member of the class of 2013. Peter Grant will be honoured at the Eighth Annual Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and Reunion, which takes place on November 2, 2013 at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel and Conference Center in Mississauga, Ontario.
Peter started riding motorcycles at the age of 14. In 1974, at age 20, he’d earned two provincial junior championships and placed second in the national series behind Mike Fair. In 1975 he gained the 750 senior class national and provincial championships riding in Ontario on a Big Bike Racing Products Norton sponsored by Doug May and in two western rounds on a Triumph belonging to Frank Wood.
Peter’s father Jack bought Peter an ex-Dave Sehl Harley XR750 with money liberated from Peter’s college fund. Peter gained expert status in both Canada and the U.S., with 250 class championships in Canada and multiple top-10 finishes in AMA regional competition. The No. 1 plate for the 750 expert class was Peter’s reward in 1979 and again in 1980.
This year, eight legends and champions will be honoured as well as the The Corduroy Enduro™ as it celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2013.
The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and Reunion is the annual signature event of the Canadian International Motorcycle Heritage Museum Foundation, a non-profit association with charitable status. It is governed by an independent board of volunteer directors located from coast to coast and is sponsored in part by the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada (MCC). Founded by Bar and Hedy Hodgson in 1999, the Canadian International Motorcycle Heritage Museum Foundation preserves and promotes Canadian motorcycle history for the benefit of the motorcycling community and the public. Since the first induction banquet in Toronto in 2006, almost 100 distinguished motorcyclists have been inducted into the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
