The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association held the penultimate round of its 2019 season at the MHDRA Dragstrip in Medicine Hat, AB on September 7th and 8th.

MTMM Performance Pro Mod saw Matt Mackay-Smith continue his dominance of the class, qualifying first overall with a 7.644 second ET at 170.33 mph. Mackay-Smith would go in to take the win and remains undefeated in the 2019 season.

In the Welch Motorcycles Pro Dragster, a well timed win by Doug Casson moved him into fourth place in the season standings and within 45 points of defending champion and current points leader Quinn Olson.

Medicine Hat also saw 18-time National Champion Ethan Barkley making his first 2019 appearance in the CMDRA Pro Street Class. Barkley, who has been racing in the United States for much of 2019, where he recently ran a personal best ET of 6.84 seconds at 206.99 mph, was the quickest racer on the track in Medicine Hat running a 7.303 second quarter mile during Sunday’s elimination rounds.

Leading up to the Medicine Hat race, only 22 points separated JPM Mechanical Super Bike points leader Riley Toth and his younger brother Zach. Taking full advantage of the double-header sportsman format, the local racer took the win in both the Saturday and Sunday races to gain a 105-point advantage heading into the season finals.

Other Sportsman racing action saw Liz Belanger and Dennis Cotton picking up wins in Pido Productions XL883 and Southland Powersports Street, two classes that are typically dominated by veterans.

Next up, the CMDRA heads to Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia for the season finals on September 21st and 22nd. Visit www.cmdra.com for complete results, point standings and photos galleries.
