Collingwood, ON CANADA – May 26, 2016 - Scottish-born Pro motorcycle road racer Ben Young is thrilled to announce famed tuner Willie Vass will work alongside chief mechanic Scott Cartier for his 2016 MOPAR Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK) title chase.
Vass, owner of Vass Performance Cycle, is considered to be the unsung tuner extraordinaire of Alberta. He has previously worked with notable riders such as Canadian Chris Peris when he raced with Team Iron Horse BMW/ESP in the AMA, Erik Buell Racing’s Aaron Yates, and CSBK fans will recognize Vass and his extraordinary talents from the years he worked with Alex Welsh.

“This is going to be an exciting season for Canadian Superbike fans. I look forward to helping Ben maximize his BMW S1000RR and seeing him battle for podium finishes and the championship,” said Vass.
Vass, along with Cartier, will utilize MotoSPEC chassis software for tuning Young’s BMW Motorrad S1000RR’s suspension and chassis geometry.  MotoSPEC has been developed in Canada, and allows tuners to accurately and quickly evaluate chassis setup options.  It is used in paddocks around the world, including MotoGP, World Superbike, British Superbike and MotoAmerica, and has contributed to numerous championships.  When not working and assisting various teams internationally in WSB and BSB, MotoSPEC developer Jeff Laidman will join Cartier and Vass trackside at upcoming Canadian Superbike Championship races this season.

"I am so glad to see Ben return to race in Canada, and looking forward to working with him, Willie and Scott.  I am sure he will be fighting at the front and be a strong addition to the Canadian Superbike field.  It is nice to see the series attracting more top riders," said MotoSPEC’s  Jeff Laidman.

A rider with tremendous international experience, including the Scottish Nationals, US Red Bull Rookies Cup tryouts, British Superbike and a Grand Prix wildcard, Young’s racing career has been extensive for any rider of his age. In 2014, he split his time between racing British Superstock in the UK and AMA Daytona SportBike in America, scoring solid results in both. Young spent the 2015 season racing in the US with the RoadRace Factory team in the MotoAmerica Supersport championship.  Young earned his first MotoAmerica podium at Road America along with several top 5 finishes. Last season, he also achieved two podium finishes at home in Canada during a one-off race weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

“I’m really excited to work with the vastly experienced Willie Vass and to collaborate with Jeff Laidman in addition to Scott Cartier this season. I feel with the K-Tech Suspension and the BMW S1000RR chassis will be a solid package and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this weekend at the opening round at Shannonville,” said Young.

Young’s partners for his 2016 CSBK season include BMW Motorrad Canada, Tim Hortons – Sudbury, Scot-build Developments, AXO Racing, Arai Helmets, Hindle Exhaust, KarmaComa Studio, Woodcraft, Human 2.0, Core Power high protein milkshakes, Epic Racewear, Vortex Racing and K&N Filters.
The 22-year-old pilot of the #86 BMW S1000RR is also a proud Laps for Muscular Dystrophy (Laps4MD) rider who’s pledged to donate $1 for every lap he leads this season. These donations go to Muscular Dystrophy Canada to help make a difference in the lives of over 50,000 Canadians affected by a neuromuscular disorder.
Opening round of the Canadian National MOPAR Superbike Championship series gets underway at Shannonville Motorsport Park May 27-29, 2016. Full events details are available at www.CSBK.ca
