Melandri sweeps Spanish World Superbike

JEREZ, Spain – The Spanish Round of the 2014 eni FIM Superbike World Championship proved to be as important as expected for this year’s title race. With Marco Melandri (Aprilia Racing Team) taking his second double of the season on Sunday, his teammate Sylvain Guintoli, who was twice second at the flag, managed to narrow the gap to series leader Tom Sykes to 31 points. The reigning champion was fifth in the first race and third in the second but was never able to show his usual speed this time at the Jerez Circuit.

Second Superpole of the season for Baz

JEREZ, Spain - An intense Tissot-Superpole second session was won by Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team), who claimed pole position for the 10th round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship at Jerez on Saturday. The young Frenchman will move off ahead of everyone else in the two Sunday races for the second time this year. Baz also recorded the new best lap of the track for the Superbike class in 1:40.298, beating the previous record by 0.322s.

Ducati completes Misano MotoGP test

Tuesday saw the conclusion of two days of testing organized by the Ducati Team at Misano World Circuit in preparation for the Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini, scheduled for the Italian circuit on Sept. 14.
