BMW Unveils 2013 R1200 GS

Written by  on Wednesday, 03 October 2012 08:56

In its ninth year of production, the BMW R1200 GS has been turning heads and setting performance benchmarks in its segment, so when BMW unveiled the 2013 BMW R1200 GS at Intermot this week, it was hard to imagine how the German manufacturer could make their flagship adventure bike even better.

Among the most prominent enhancements, the 2013 BMW R1200 GS gets an air/ water-cooled boxer engine to help improve emissions and improve fuel economy.  The glycol-water mixture of coolant also ensures a high level of heat absorption, dissipating heat more effectively away from the engine.

For 2013, BMW introduces five riding modes as an optional extra- Rain, Road, Dynamic, Enduro and Enduro Pro.  The option is supplemented with ABS and, if installed, the semiactive suspension are all adapted to the responsive profiles of each mode.

The 2013 BMW R1200 GS also gets a new chassis, with tubular steel bridge frame and specially designed wheel/ tire dimensions of 120/70 in the front and a world first 170/60 in the rear.

Adventure riders will appreciate all of the electronic options on the R1200 GS including optional electronic cruise control and one-hand operational electronic windscreen.

The specs on the 2013 R1200 GS are long and impressive and we’ll be sharing Canadian pricing once it becomes available.
