Stoner Undergoes Successful Surgery

Written by  on Thursday, 30 August 2012 08:22

Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner underwent successful surgery on his right ankle today following a crash during the Indianapolis MotoGP twelve days ago. Stoner, who suffered torn ligaments and fractures to his ankle, tibia and fibula during a qualifying session at Indianapolis, was able to go on to compete in Sunday's final at Indy, finishing in a spectacular 4th place.

However, Stoner was not deemed fit to race the last MotoGP round at Brno, and returned home to Australia to undergo surgery.

According to a press release from Honda Racing Corporation, the surgery went well, "The procedure was performed by Dr. Lam's team in Sydney's North Shore Private Hospital. Doctors are pleased with how the operation went, and now must wait during this initial recuperation period to see how the ankle is healing. WIth no complications or need for Casey to stay in hospital, he has returned home and HRC will endeavour to share information on Casey's recovery as it is known."
