Written by  OFTR on Monday, 18 May 2020 18:27

We are happy to report that the 2020 riding season is upon us! Thank you all for your patience and for respecting the spring trail closure

Simcoe County Forest Opened May 13th

Kawartha Lakes - Somerville Forest - 5 Points Riding Area, Opened May 12th

Limerick Forest Opened May 16th

Larose Forest Opened May 16th

Calabogie Riding Area is Open. Please note do not park or stage from the Calabogie Highlands Golf Course until further notice! They have only just been allowed to prepare for the golf season and will be opening soon by the sounds of things. They have kindly asked we not park and stage anywhere near the clubhouse (or on ANY grassy area near the clubhouse) or golf course parking lot. Consider High Falls or any other location that is safe to stage from.

Ganaraska Forest is planning on opening June 5th

Just a reminder when you ride to observe all Ontario’s public health measures and social distancing guidelines. Do not ride in groups of more than 5 as provincial restrictions also apply to the trails. The staging areas and trails are likely to be very busy. You will see a heavier presence of trail patrol, bylaw officers and the OPP on the trails and in the park areas to make sure that these guidelines are being followed. This is a trial opening of the trails and if riders don't respect these rules and guidelines then the municipalities are prepared to close the trails down again.

If you are traveling a long distance to reach your chosen riding area please make sure that you bring your own food and plenty of gas for duration of your stay as we do not want to overburden our rural communities.

Be safe, enjoy your first ride and appreciate the great trails Ontario has to offer. Don't forget to renew your membership if you have not done so already. To reach the membership page click HERE
