The team - @penz13com - around Rico Penzkofer and Gordon Unger just returned from Spain (Almeria), where they tested the latest BMW machinery BMW S1000RR superbikes for the upcoming season.

Obviously this was just the first roll out as the team is still waiting for new parts to arrive. The main objective was to give the riders a first feeling of the new bike and introducing the newly contracted riders to the team. Again the BMW Racing Team will focus on the FIM World Endurance, especially after they now level up to the Superbike Class representing the Bavarian Manufacturer as BMW Motorrad France Team Markus Reiterberger, Bastien Mackels and Pedro Vallcaneras took the plane down to Almeria to put their first laps under the belt.

Also at the track was British Superbike Legend Michael Rutter, who is new to the team but signed for the International Road Racing campaign at the North West 200, the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy and the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. Rutter will be equipped with a full spec superbike and a superstock, both based on the 2015 BMW S1000RR. To complete the team Penzkofer also signed the services of Stephen Thompson and Dan Kruger to represent the Bathams by BMW Motorrad. Both raced for him at the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix in November 2014 already.

Rico Penzkofer: "It's great to have such a legend as Michael is on board for this exciting season. Of course the team's priority is to establish itself as a title contender in the World Endurance for the future. But I always had tremendous passion for real road racing, having raced at various meetings during my own professional career. We have only for meetings in the WEC that fortunately does not clash with any of the big road racing meetings. So we thought it would be good to level up on the roads too. Michael is obviously a very experienced rider with an incredible race record – 4 TT wins, 17 NW200 Wins and 8 Macau GP victories – I had to get him signed. We are now preparing his personal bikes in our work shop and can't wait to travel up north in May."

Michael Rutter: "I am very happy to ride for the team even though it looked a bit like a long shot as the team is based in Germany. Obviously they have the best bikes available for this job and I am pretty confident that we can put the things together the way I need them and being competitive. I am not finished yet – especially not with the North West and Macau where I would like to add on another win even though the competition isn't getting any easier. The TT is a bit of different story but I am looking forward to go around the Mountain course with the bikes I will have and the team behind - I am surely targeting Top 6 finishes. There is still lots of work to do at all ends for the team and myself. But I can fully focus on the job now after everything got sorted."

Stephen Thompson: "After riding with the team at Macau 2014 I am happy to be part of this professional and highly thought of team. I'm hoping they can continue to help me gain good results at the North West and especially the TT as I have struggled a little the last couple of years. With the rest of the roads such as the Ulster GP, Frohburg and Macau we should not be far away with good results .Also is nice to be team mates with Michael Rutter again."

Dan Kruger: "I am really happy to be part of the Penz13 BMW team in 2015. I have a year of Road Racing under my belt and also a year with this team. They prepare the best bikes in the paddock and are a really good team to race for. The NW200 will be a tough one with Simon still dearly missed but I am looking forward to seeing all the guys and to improve on my 2014 times.

Having the chance to have Michael Rutter as a team mate is mega. He is a living legend when it comes to the Roads and even in circuit racing. I feel really fortunate to be part of the team. I have a busy season ahead with both Road Racing, Circuit racing, and some World Endurance but am finally fit from past injuries and am counting the days to the first race."
