McCormick Quick, Beats Rain at Assen

Brett McCormick used an aggressive early strategy to move to 15th overall in the first official qualifying session for this weekend’s third round of the 2012 eni Superbike World Championship at Assen in the Netherlands.  In his second career outing aboard the Liberty Racing Team Effenbert Ducati, McCormick made full use of a dry track early before rain arrived and stopped, then slowed proceedings at the historic TT venue in northern Holland.

Round 3 World Superbike: McCormick on Track at Assen

Reigning Canadian Superbike Championship title winner Brett McCormick was 23rd quickest this morning in his debut eni Superbike World Championship series session at the famed TT circuit at Assen, Holland.  Piloting the fourth Liberty Racing Team Effenbert Ducati 1098R, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan’s McCormick was delayed when he ran out of fuel, but still accomplished 16 laps of the 4.542 km circuit during the 45 minute session.

Preview: Round Three WSBK Championship- McCormick Heads North to Netherlands

The eni World Superbike series continues this weekend with round three at the historic TT circuit of Assen in the Netherlands.  It will be the 300th round overall for the production-based Superbike series that debuted in 1988. In the previous round at Imola, Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) took back the points lead from Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing). Going into Assen, the top six riders (on five different brands) are separated by just 35 points.
