Following the crowning of national champions, Harley-Davidson’s Battle of the Kings has gone global. Included amongst the creations from the 16 countries vying for votes is Moonshine, the winner of Canada’s national competition.
Created by the talented team at Alberta’s Calgary Harley-Davidson and their CHD Customs division, Moonshine started life as a stock 2018 Sport Glide. Following the contest rules that require that the customization budget be no more than 50 percent of the motorcycle’s MSRP and that 50 percent of the parts come from the Harley-Davidson parts and accessory catalogue, this Sport Glide emerged as a one of a kind custom.
Genuine Harley-Davidson parts utilized include a Screamin’ Eagle Stage 1 pro street tuner, gloss-black engine covers, seven-inch LED Daymaker headlight and mid controls along with grips, foot pegs and mirrors from the brand’s Dominion collection. The inclusion of an FXRT style fairing was chosen to pay tribute to the original Sport Glide FXRT that Harley produced from 1983 to 1992. The use of real copper coating highlights many of these accessories and provides a striking contrast to the Harley-Davidson Vivid Black paint creating a true custom look.
While the team at Calgary Harley-Davidson and CHD Customs is proud of Moonshine and are confident that it provides a blue print for anyone looking to customize a Sport Glide, the reality is that bike was built with one goal and that is to win the Battle of the Kings and this is where you come in.
