Canadian Mike Scott, 2014 IHRA Nitro Harley Champion, Returns to Competition this Weekend in Grand Bend

@IHRA • @GBMotorplex • NORWALK, Ohio (June 23, 2015) - The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) drag racing community will see a familiar face this weekend at Grand Bend Motorplex as last year's Nitro Harley champion, Mike Scott, is scheduled to make his return.
The former champion competed for Turner Racing in 2014 and took home three wins during the season. The Nitro Harley championship came down to the final race at Memphis International Raceway with four drivers competing for the number one spot. Scott was leading the standings and did not advance to the final round, a win by his teammate, Jay Turner, against Randal Andras sealed the deal.
Scott intended on running the entire Nitro Jam season in 2015 but work commitments did not allow his full-time return. He was able to schedule time off to race in both Canadian races this year and will compete in the Nitro Harley class with his former team, Turner Racing. The goal for Scott is to come back full force in 2016 and win championship number two.
The Mopar Nationals Nitro Harley class currently includes eight entries: Rob Brown, Jim Fagan, Tracy Kile, Alvin Kobernuscz, Lyle Newton, Mike Pelrine, Jay Turner and Mike Scott. There is only 10-points separating the top-three in the point standings. Randal Andras leads with 399 followed by Jay Turner with 390 and Tracy Kile with 389.
This year's Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals marks the 15th consecutive year the IHRA has traveled to Grand Bend Motorplex to celebrate one of drag racing's biggest and most exciting events. The 2015 IHRA Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals will feature three full days of drag racing action in six professional categories and 10 sportsman categories with qualifying on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 22 and eliminations on Sunday, June 28.

"Just Ride" During the Harley-Davidson® World Ride, June 27-28

@HarleyCanada • CONCORD, ON, May 19, 2015 - Just ride. It is a simple idea that expresses the passion that unites motorcycle riders around the world, regardless of age, location, or brand. It is also all anyone needs to do to join the thousands of Harley-Davidson® motorcycle riders and Harley Owners Group® members who are flexing their freedom and hitting the open road during the Harley-Davidson® World Ride on June 27 and 28.

"One of the beautiful things about riding a motorcycle is how it lets you check out from the daily grind and experience the pure feelings of joy and freedom it brings," said Ken Ostermann, Harley-Davidson® General Manager of Integrated Marketing Operations. "The Harley-Davidson World Ride is all about being on your bike, loving life, and sharing that feeling with others."

One World, Two Days, Millions of Miles

Launched in 2008 by the Harley Owners Group® as Million Mile Monday®, the annual riding event was expanded into the two-day Harley-Davidson® World Ride in 2012 to give more riders worldwide an opportunity to participate. In 2014, participants logged more than ten million miles on solo rides, in groups large and small, and through a variety of Retailer-led events around the world, united by their shared passion for motorcycling. For 2015, the event retains its two-day format, but shifts to Saturday and Sunday to enable even more riders around the globe to participate.

"The thrilling feeling of freedom and independence experienced by riding a motorcycle can be life-changing. Participating in the World Ride is a perfect opportunity to share that experience with a non-rider, perhaps by inviting them along as a passenger to share the ride," Ostermann said.

Whether it is across town, cross-country, or anything in between, every mile counts and can be recorded by logging into the online mileage accumulator of Harley-Davidson at, where a rolling odometer will record the collective distance traveled by all participants in the World Ride.

Ride participants can log their post-ride mileage directly onto the World Ride website from mobile devices and share their riding stories and photographs on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #HDworldride. Participants can also download a certificate of participation after logging their mileage on the World Ride website.
