”The exhilaration of a 1000 cc Superbike with the handling of a 600 cc Supersport,” says the press release. “The torque of a v-twin and the rev limit of a four-cylinder. The MV Agusta F3 800 is the new performance frontier, the avantgarde three-cylinder motorcycle proudly Made in Italy.”
The new F3 800 is the big brother to the F3 675, offering more power and torque through a 798 cc engine that MV Agusta claims is “the epitome of Italian technology.” 148 HP and 65 lb-ft of torque are produced. The bike weighs in at just 173 kg (381 lbs) dry, the same as the 675, giving it an impressive power-to-weight ratio. MV Agusta claims an estimated 269 km/h top speed.
The Italian maker claims that the F3 800’s MVICS electronics package (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) is the most advanced system ever put on a middleweight sportbike. Ride-by-wire, 8-level traction control and three selectable maps (including one customizable by the rider/owner/tuner) are part of the package.
A tube steel and cast aluminum frame has a Marzocchi fork in the front and a Sachs shock out back. Brembo monobloc calipers and Pirelli rubber round out the 800’s rolling chassis. The F3 800 comes in three colour schemes. Canadian availability and pricing is TBD, but MV Agusta lists the Euro price as 13,990 Euros – just over $19,000 Canadian.
