The Effenbert Liberty Racing Team successfully completed a 3-day private test in Phillip Island in preparation for the World Superbike Championship season-opener in 2 weeks time.
Saskatchewan’s Brett McCormick had an opportunity to test the his new Effenbert Liberty Racing Ducati Panigale in preparation for the upcoming World Superstock race season.
The first day of the test saw riders finding a basic set-up using suspension and braking materials from 2011. McCormick, who was sharing a motorcycle with a teammate, managed to get in 30 laps on Monday and acquaint himself with the motorcycle. McCormick’s Tuesday testing was unexpectedly interrupted when he and teammate Sylvain Guintoli, along with 4 team mechanics fell ill to a nasty virus.
By Wednesday, Brett had recovered and was able to put in 30-40 laps, dropping his laptimes by 4 seconds from Monday’s test.
Despite a high speed off-track “excursion” in the morning, Brett finished Wednesday’s session with a time of 1.38:2.
The team will now prepare for the official FIM Test February 20-21 in Phillip Island, followed by the World Superbike Championship season opener February 24-26, 2012.
