Royal Distributing rider Michael Leon dominated the Labour Day weekend races at Shannonville, riding his CBR600RR on Dunlop tires. Michael won both the Pro Superbike and Pro 600 races, extending his lead to more than 7 seconds by each race’s midway point, before settling in to bring home the wins.

The weekend was not without difficulties.  The team was forced to sit out Friday practice as crew chief Carlos Carrascosa dealt with a leaking radiator, a reminder of the crash at the previous weekend’s Mosport event.  The team borrowed a spare radiator from fellow competitor, Sean Huffman on Friday evening.  “I am so thankful to have a friend like Sean.  He literally gave us the keys to his house and sent us to his place to pick up the radiator.  We were tied in points for second in the Superbike championship, yet he still did everything he could to get us on the grid to settle it on the track. He had already lent me a steering damper and fairing stay.  He is a true Sportsman! ” commented Michael.

On Saturday, Michael won the Superbike heat race claiming 3 important points toward the Championship.

During Sunday’s Pro 600 final, Michael broke away on the first lap and was unchallenged until the checkered flag.  Amzy Nawaz was second and Elie Daccache finished third.

Michael moves into second place in the Pro 600 Championship.

The feature race of the day, Pro Superbike was similar.  Leon pulled away on the first lap and won by 5 seconds at the flag. Kris Garvie, riding injured, was second and Elie Daccache third.

The results bumped Leon into the lead in the Pro Superbike Championship.  Garvie follows closely, one single point behind.

Come out to the final event of the season at Shannonville, on Sun Sep 23, to watch Leon and Garvie battle it out for the RACE #1 plate.
