Varsity Speed Park in Calgary was host to rounds two and three of the Canadian National Mini Roadracing Association’s Championship series, presented by Parts Canada, June 29-July 1.
On June 30, Bushnell Park, Saskatchewan rider Jonathan Finn took his second National win of the season during Round 2 of the series, which was hosted by the Alberta Mini Roadracing Association (AMRA). Finn grabbed the lead on the first lap and was never challenged the rest of the way to take victory. Matthew Finn, starting from the second row, was able to obtain the final podium spot during a final lap battle.
Round 3 took place the following day on July 1. Although morning practice was in the dry, late morning thunderstorms would test the abilities of all competitors in wet conditions. Jonathan again took the lead right from the start, and demonstrating his abilities given the track conditions, commanded a strong lead to the checkered flag. The wet track would prove challenging for the remainder of the field including Matthew who just missed out on a podium due to a low side crash early in the race. The Finn Motorsports youngest rider was able to collect himself and finish the race upright in fourth place.
The Finn Motorsports team heads into the fourth round on top of the national points standings. The CNMRA returns to Stratotech Park in Edmonton, Alberta July 21-22, after a 4 year absence.
