TORONTO, ON -The winner of this year’s Inside Motorcycles Amateur Sport Bike National Championship will get to go back to school.
The magazine has announced that it will include a one-day tuition certificate for the Penguin Roadracing School as part of the prize to the champion in the series, which is part of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship. The certificate entitles the winner to a Track Experience, Basic Course or Advanced Course at the school, which is run out of New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H. and Homestead Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida.
“We think this prize is a perfect fit for the Inside Motorcycles Amateur Sport Bike class, which is focused on developing the next wave of Canadian racing talent,” said Inside Motorcycles General Manager David Weber. “Penguin Roadracing School has a long-standing reputation of excellence in North America and we thank them for making such a valuable contribution to the class.”
The Penguin Roadracing School was founded in 1973 by Jerry Wood and Joe Ziegler. Its current roster of instructors includes Eric Wood, Steve Nogueira, Scott Greenwood, Jeff Wood and Steve Aspland, all of whom bring a wealth of North American road racing experience to the school.
“The Penguin Roadracing School has a long and proud history and we feel privileged to have them associated with the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship,” said Kevin Graham of Frontline CSBK Inc., which organizes the national series. “This is a prize that should appeal to every rider in the Inside Motorcycles Amateur Sport Bike field. This class is all about riders developing their skill, and this prize complements that mandate.”
Philippe Masse of St-Hyacinthe, Que. currently leads the Inside Motorcycles Amateur Sport Bike Championship standings after winning the opening two races at Shannonville Motorsport Park on June 24 and Autodrome St-Eustache on July 8 on his Racingphil.com / Pete’s Superbike Kawasaki ZX-6R.
He has a 23-point lead in the standings over St-Jerome, Que.’s Jean-Francois Aubin, while Will Hornblower of Sarnia, Ont. sits third in the rankings with four races remaining in the series.
This year’s Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship continues this weekend at Atlantic Motorsport Park and concludes with a doubleheader at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park August 24-26. The series will also visit Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Mont-Tremblant, Que. August 10-12.
