Simon Hamel became the second winner of the season in the Bazzaz Amatuer Superbike championship final at Autodrome St. Eustache on July 8, 2012. With the victory, Hamel also recieves the Dua Motorsports $1000.00 contingency payout.
Hamel rode a faultless and dominant race winning by over seven seconds after the sixteen lap affair on the Pete’s Superbike/LAS Suspension/Michel Brossard BMW R1000s.
“This is icing on the cake.” The Rosmere, Quebec rider said in reference to the oversized DUA Dollars cheque presented to him on the podium. “The first couple of laps were hard but I didn’t have any problems. We were a bit surprised but we had been lowering our lap times all weekend.” It was Hamel’s first National win, which was preceeded by a pole position in qualifying.
Hamel goes into round three of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championships at Atlantic Motorsports Park just three points adrift of Mississauga, Ontario rider Trevor Daley in the Bazzaz Amatuer Superbike championship standings.
