On June 8-9, Round 1 of the Canadian Motorcycle Association (CMA) sanctioned Canadian National Mini Roadracing Association’s National Championship Series hosted by the Prairie Sport Riders Association (PSRA) took place at 3 Flags Motorsports Park Lumsden, SK. With over 100 race class entries representing mini road racing clubs from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, the Finn Motorsports riders were keen to match their skills against racers from across Western Canada.

Finn Motorsports Youth Class rider, 2012 National Runner-up Matthew Finn, was eager to start the 2013 season strong. Demonstrating strength in each of his starts, Matthew was able to consistently get the holeshot and take a commanding lead that was unchallenged throughout each of his two races.  Matthew’s two race wins have set the tone for what should be a strong 2013 national season for this Youth rider.

Finn Motorsports senior rider, Jonathan Finn, did not have the start to his season that he was hoping.  With engine problems plaguing him all weekend Jonathan was unable to start in either of his Formula Thunder or Spec Formula class races.  However a silver lining appeared when Mike Remple from MiniMob Racing was able to supply Jonathan with a bike allowing him to participate in the Intermediate class races. Jonathan would like to thank Mike Remple and MiniMob from Winnipeg, MB for helping him get back on the track.

The Finn Motorsports team will continue with practice track sessions at the 3 Flags Motorsports Park as they head into Rounds 2 & 3 atop of the national points standings in the Youth class.  The CNMRA Canada Day double-header race weekend takes place in Calgary, AB at the Calgary Varsity Motorsports Park June 29-30.  This will be the last National event to take place at Calgary’s Varsity before it closes permanently at the end of the 2013 racing season.

The Finn Motorsports team would not be able to compete at this level without the special efforts of Canadian Tire Moose Jaw, Lucas Oil Products Inc., Cruisers Collision & Custom, NGK Spark Plugs Canada, JT Sprockets, Moose Jaw Ford, DECAL Works, and Defy All Odds Apparel.

Jonathan Finn would like to thank the contributing sponsors of the Peter Lenz Forever 45 Scholarship including Arai Helmets, California Superbike School, Held Gloves USA, Impact Safe-T Armor, Performance Under Gear (PUG), Pilot Leathers, and Sidi Riding Boots. A special thank you to the Lenz family for their support.
