Canada’s CSBK 2011 Pro Rookie of the Year and 2012 rookie superbike phenom, 16 year old Bodhi Edie hit the road last weekend for his first race south of the 49th parallel. The trip proved well worth the effort, with Edie coming away victorious in the premier superbike class in round six of the Masters of the Mountains race series at Miller Motorsport Park, sanctioned by the AMA.

Edie got his first taste of the Miller east course on a Friday track day aboard his Edie Racing BMW S1000RR. He spent the day learning the track and fine tuning set up, by the end of the day nearing the top of the timesheets. Saturday provided more opportunity for practice and set up work, and by Sunday morning’s qualifying session, Edie was able to take pole position in the King of the Mountain GTO class by 0.969 secs.

Racing on Sunday afternoon began for the Warman, Sask. native with 13th and ninth place starting positions in the Open Superbike class and the Open Superstock class, respectively, as both of these grids were built based on series points to date. Edie warmed up for the day’s end King of the Mountain class by slicing through the pack in both classes, finishing second and first, respectively.

The day closed with the series premier class, and a grid of 12 racers in the King of the Mountain battle. Starting from his first career superbike pole position, Edie didn’t get a great start, but fought back, battling with Jesse Sherstan, and was rewarded with a win and a margin of victory of 5.61 seconds over Sherstan in second place. Bodhi’s fastest lap of the race was 1:33.379, only 0.67 secs. off of Scott Jensen’s 2008 track record.

“The track was awesome; I was so stoked to ride my BMW here! The racing was exciting and this trip is one I will remember,” said Edie.

Edie Racing thanks sponsor and fellow racer Chuck Antle for making this trip possible.
