Championship celebrations highlighted the final day of action at Grand Bend Motorplex as Ben Young clinched his sixth Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship while Lachlan Alexander secured the 2026 Super Sonic Road Race School Lightweight Sportbike Championship. Both riders capped their title-winning weekends with victories on Sunday as the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship completed an exciting Round 4.

Young completed a championship winning weekend in the GP Bikes Pro Superbike class, sweeping both races to secure the national title with one round remaining in the 2026 season. The Honda rider’s sixth premier-class crown further cements his place among the most accomplished riders in Canadian Superbike history.

Young took Sunday’s 20-lap feature after crossing the finish line 5.572 seconds ahead of BMW rider Zoltan Frast. Frast completed his outstanding weekend with another podium finish, while veteran Jordan Szoke completed the top three aboard his Kawasaki after an intense race-long battle that saw just 0.120 seconds separate second and third at the checkered flag.

Andrew Van Winkle continued his impressive form with another fourth-place finish aboard his Honda, while Alex Michel and Kyle Newman rounded out the top six.

The race featured late drama as Saturday’s polesitter David MacKay crashed out of the lead with just four laps remaining. After setting the fastest lap of the race and appearing poised to challenge for victory, the Honda rider was unable to continue, ending what had been another outstanding performance.

Casas Completes Weekend Sweep in OPP Racing Pro Supersport
Tomas Casas matched Young’s feat in the OPP Racing Pro Supersport class, producing another commanding ride aboard his Suzuki to complete a perfect weekend sweep.

Sebastien Tremblay secured another runner-up finish, while Matthew Simpson continued his strong season with a third-place finish after holding off Cole Alexander throughout the 18-lap contest. Nathan Playford rounded out the top five aboard his Ducati.

Tache and Walker Continue Winning Form
The Importations Thibault Twins Cup once again produced one of the closest finishes of the weekend, with JP Tache edging Scott Rupert by just 0.279 seconds after 14 hard-fought laps. Gary McKinnon completed the podium after another consistent performance.

In the Scorpion EXO Ninja ZX-4RR Cup, Jared Walker remained unbeaten with another convincing class victory, finishing ahead of Jean-Pascal Schroeder and Jacob Black.

Alexander Clinches Super Sonic Road Race School Lightweight Championship
Lachlan Alexander capped off a remarkable weekend by claiming victory in the Super Sonic Road Race School Lightweight Sportbike aboard his Kawasaki Ninja 500 while also securing the 2026 Lightweight Sportbike Championship.

Alexander led home Norbert Joo by just over four seconds after 10 laps around Grand Bend Motorplex, with Marc Prete completing the podium after another strong performance.

With the victory, Alexander wrapped up the Lightweight title one round early, becoming the second rider on Sunday to clinch a national championship.

Matson and Ives Lead Amateur Winners
The AIM Insurance Amateur Superbike race was shortened following a red flag, with Carter Matson taking the victory ahead of Baillie Ives and Alexis Beaudoin.

Earlier in the afternoon, Baillie Ives captured the EBC Brakes Amateur Supersport victory over Braeden Stewart, while Julia Krans completed the podium.

The Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship heads to its season finale at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, August 7-9, with the GP Bikes Pro Superbike and Super Sonic Road Race School Lightweight Sportbike championships decided, while championship battles remain alive across the remaining national classes.
