The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association opening round of 2013 at the Eagle Motorplex in Ashcroft, BC saw Nate Gagnon claim victory in the first Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel race of the year. Back home in BC after a season in Europe, the 2012 UEM Super Twin Champion wasted no time in making his presence known. Despite less than optimal track conditions which limited the Top Fuel class to 1/8th mile runs, Gagnon managed to hit 168 mph in the final, relegating 2012 Champion and fellow BC resident Damian Cownden to the runner-up position.

The Blackjacks Roadhouse Pro Modified class continued to provide heart stopping action and down to the wire races. Despite running over 200 mph in morning practice, Hope BC’s Gary Christopher was eliminated in the first round by Tony Clizbe of Brooks Alberta by just 0.05 of a second, moving Clizbe into the final against 2012 champion Len Darnell. With Darnell having already claimed victory in the Super Bike class earlier in the day, the Vancouver Washington resident was in perfect form, running an impressive 6.808 second quarter mile at 194.3 mph in the final to defeat Clizbe.

The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Association recently announced that Brock’s Performance and EB Speed have partnered to create a contingency program for the CMDRA Street Class. At each of the five western rounds of the 2013 CMDRA season, this new contingency award will pay $100 to the winner of the Street Class event for anyone using parts manufactured by Brock’s Performance and running Brock’s Performance decals on both sides of their bike. If the winning bike is equipped with an exhaust from Brock’s Performance, the contingency payment doubles to $200.

EB Speed is one of the leading distributors of Brock’s Performance in Canada. Additional information regarding EB Speed and thirteen time CMDRA champion Ethan Barkley can be found by visiting www.ebspeed.com. More information on Brock’s Performance and their products is available online at www.brocksperformance.com.

The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Association also announced Motovan as the newest sponsor of the CMDRA and its 2013 season. Under this new agreement, Motovan will be awarding Scorpion helmets to each of  the 2013 champions in the 12 CMDRA classes as well as the winner of the East vs. West Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod shootout.
