(Vancouver, WA, USA) – During Peter Lenz’s racing career he was blessed to have the support of his family and the best safety and training equipment to be found. The Peter Lenz Forever 45 Scholarship was started shortly after the tragic passing of Peter Lenz two years ago.

The Forever 45 fund honors Peter’s memory by awarding annual equipment and training scholarships to a deserving youth rider who displays the characteristics that made Peter a champion both on and off the track. Though American, Peter cut his national teeth racing the Canadian National Mini Road Racing Series where he won several national championships. The Peter Lenz Forever 45 racing scholarship has selected a young rider following those same steps in building his talent in Canadian youth mini road racer, 9 year old Jonathan Finn, as the program’s 2012 recipient.

This year through the generous support of the racing community and Peter’s sponsors, the Forever 45 fund is able to provide Jonathan the following safety gear and training for the 2012 season:
– Corsair V helmet from Arai Helmets
– Custom Leathers from Pilot USA
– Sidi boots from Motonation
– Innersuit from Performance Under Gear (PUG)
– Phantom gloves from Held USA
– Custom chest and back protector from Impact Safe-T Armor
– One day 1:1 on track instruction from California Superbike School

“I want to thank the Lenz family for choosing me for the 2012 Forever 45 scholarship. I am really happy and would like to thank all of Peter’s sponsors that are giving equipment and training. I really liked Peter and looked up to him but never got the chance to meet him. This is a really good opportunity I got this year and I really have to thank everyone who is helping me”, said Jonathan.

“The support that Peter had in the Canadian National Mini Road Racing Series was instrumental tremendous success in Canada as he developed his skill as a racer, and meeting Jonathan and the Finn family brought back the best of those memories. We are glad we were able to arrange this for Jonathan in Peter’s memory,” commented Michael Lenz, Peter’s father.

Sharing her thoughts, Jonathan’s mother, Christina said “It is an amazing opportunity for Jonathan; he is so passionate about his racing. As my husband is currently serving in Afghanistan and isn’t able to be home this racing season, it means a lot to me that Jonathan has been fitted with the best possible equipment this season. I would like to thank the Lenz family and all of those that are supporting Jonathan and his racing behind the scenes.”

Jonathan was the 2011 Canadian National Youth Runner-up and the 2010 Canadian National Youth Champion. He is currently competing in his third year as a Youth in the Canadian National Mini Road Racing series. Jonathan, his younger brother Matthew and parents all participate in the Canadian National Mini Road Racing series across western Canada.
