Grand Bend Motorplex’s massive All-Bike Race Weekend is even bigger this year! This weekend’s event (June 16-17) will not only feature huge fields of motorcycles drag racing on the quarter-mile, but the SOAR road racing series will increase the scope of the event significantly, providing non-stop action for all types of racing fans.
“We have the All Makes Hully Gully Summer Sizzler on the Saturday featuring race classes for every kind of bike and every level of rider, plus a full field of Nitro Harley’s will be qualifying for Sundays race,” a press release indicated. “As an extra treat we have the HURA Pro Mods (cars) making some 200MPH passes. The Kevin Blackmore Q16 race this year will honour both Kevin and Jack Learment, an organizer of this race and a great competitor/friend we lost this past year.”
Sunday has always been about the Harley’s – Rocky’s Father’s Day “Harleys by the Beach” has become a destination ride, and over 1000 Harleys commonly roll through the gates to catch the on-track action that includes several Harley race classes, one all-makes class, the Nitro Harley race and the HURA Pro Mods.
But what the track is really excited about this year is the addition of the SOAR motorcycle road racing series. “When Ken McAdams from SOAR found out we had an all-bike weekend, he contacted me and said he wanted the SOAR motorcycle series to be part of the weekend on the new road course. So round 2 of the SOAR series will be on the road course racing both Saturday and Sunday.” SOAR features race classes from beginners right up to Pros; watching Superbikes going down the back stretch at about 250 km/h and then dropping over into the big carousel turn is an amazing sight.
Get twice the action for the same low price as last year! Tickets are $17 Sat, $20 Sun, or you can camp for the entire weekend for just $45. Go to www.grandbendmotorplex.com for all the details.
