The Alberta Mini Roadracing Association (AMRA) enjoyed their first evening of the inaugural AMRA ‘Checkered Flag’ support program for kids on May 30. The program, designed to introduce young kids between the ages of 6-9 to the sport of motorcycle roadracing, provides equipment and gear for up to three young riders whose parents do not have the financial means to introduce their kids to roadracing.
The first of three ‘Checkered Flag’ program recipient was selected this week, as AMRA has accepted Acer Kozak for the sponsorship program for the 2012 season. Acer was suited up with riding gear, a motorcycle and then given some off track instruction by Alyssa Fox. He was soon on the track, turning laps with the other young guns, while his family watched from the sidelines.
“It was all I could think about today at school”, the shy and excited Acer reported.
AMRA is still in the process of appointing the two remaining sponsorship recipients and will be accepting applications from qualified candidates. Details on the program are on the ‘latest news’ page at www.amra.ca
