The racing community in Canada suffered a huge loss on June 7 when Tyler Seguin passed away following a crash at Welland County Speedway. Seguin was taking part in the Open Expert final, which was the last race of the night, when he was involved in a multi rider incident and sadly succumbed to the injuries he received in the wreck.
Seguin, a flat track champion at every level, called the Welland track home and had taken countless checkered flags and track championships at the quarter mile oval over a career that spanned more than two decades.
Along with taking the 2023 Flat Track Canada Open Expert title, Seguin had re-wrote the record books back in 2013 when he became the youngest ever in Canada to grab the No. 1 plate when he took the CMA Open Expert title.

More than just a talented racer, Seguin was easily one of the most popular riders at the track. He was always the first to thank those involved in putting on the races, and he was always there to pass on tips and knowledge to younger riders, some of whom would eventually battle him on the track in the Expert ranks. He was a rare breed in that despite his immense talent, he was one of the humblest racers you would ever talk to in the pits.
Seguin had more podiums than you could count over the course of his career, but the ones that really stood out for him were the ones that he got to share with his spouse Jenna and their son Reid, as well as with his brother Brandon.
Along with his flat track title in 2023, the biggest moment of that year for Seguin was the birth of his son Reid. His eyes took on a different light when he was around Reid and his smile radiated whenever he had a chance to talk about him. As much as he thrived in the role of professional racer, it was obvious his favourite role was dad.

Seguin will be sadly missed by his family, friends and the motorcycling community at whole. He was 29 years old.
