“We had a great day today,” said Stewart after the race. “We put in a new clutch Friday when we got here, but I wasn’t happy with it, so we put the old one back in and it worked better. From then on, it was smooth sailing.”
Stewart qualified his Raceworks Canada-backed Suzuki GSX-R ninth overall, while Bondi qualified in the number six slot on his 2012 Skidoo. When the lights came down in the finals, Bondi left too early and lit the red light, fouling away his chances at victory and handing Stewart his first PBSS win. Stewart sped to an 8.79/143.75.
The next event in the six-race 2012 series is the Summer Showdown June 8-9 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.
